“A stomach that is seldom empty despises common food.”-Horace
When I travel, I enjoy finding the unique, fun, crazy and comfortable places that makes you want to tell the world about it. The Corner Restaurant is that place.
Located at 4059 Broadway, Kansas City, Mo., this restaurant is easy, casual and a great meeting place for lunch or to grab a bite before heading home.
When you step through the doors, dark wood flooring and large panes of glass throughout the building, gives a sense of space and comfort. The muted allspice wall coloring and the use of brick inlay to balance the tone, welcomes the visitor to sit awhile and enjoy themselves.
Situated in the famous Westport shopping and dining area, tastes are as varied as the customers. The Corner Restaurant isn’t stuffy or pretentious; instead, it’s a perfect hideout. My favorite dining spot is in the step up loft area. It offers a birds view to watch the outside world and the restaurant patrons. This is my ‘thinking spot’ for personal comfort and creative writing.
Rise and shine for breakfast which begins at six. You have several choices in the categories of Farm Favs and Griddle Love. (I crave the Maple Cakes) Scramble-Fuls, a longtime favorite, is back. Corner Restaurant offers a brunch and desert menu to choose from. Start or end your meal with a glass of bubbly to help you unwind from a busy day. You get all this; food, comfort and great service from the wait staff. What more could you want?
Meet chef Natasha Spears as she welcomes you with a genuine smile and hug. Like a mother hen, Natasha keeps her kitchen running smoothly with the help of Sous chef, Brandon J.
So come on over to Corner Restaurant and stay awhile. If you happen to see a woman with pen, paper and a serious look on her face, it will be me, plotting another story over hot Maple Cakes.
