“Earth laughs in flowers.”-Ralph Waldo Emerson
One of the best ways to start your morning is with the sweet smell of the Plumeria flower. In some cultures it is a symbol of life or the arrival of spring. Plumeria trees can grow up to 30 feet tall with clusters of pin wheel-shaped flowers and bright green leaves. Common colors are white with yellow centers but may appear in pink, red, yellow or multi-colored.
The tree is known to produce 50-200 flowers per cluster. In Hawaii and the Pacific Islands, the plumeria is used in lei making. Women in the Hawaiian culture will wear the flower behind the left ear to indicate a relationship.
If worn behind the right, you are single. (Information obtained from Buzzle and eHow.com)
